Be a part of the process and share your ideas with us!

A successful plan is made possible through active community participation. Outreach activities are designed to give you β€” the community β€” a forum to share your visions and priorities for parks, open space, recreational facilities, and recreation programs in San Carlos. Those ideas guide the project planning process and become the basis for the master plan strategies. Community outreach and public engagement are key to ensuring that the final plan accurately and holistically represents the City of San Carlos and its diverse residents.

Beginning in August 2024, we hosted in-person and virtual outreach activities to spread awareness about the project and give community voices a chance to be heard. Through pop-up events, surveys, workshops, public meetings, and more, our project team collaborated with the community at each step of the planning process and collected valuable feedback along the way.

Outreach Recap:

Thanks to the San Carlos community for sharing their ideas to enhance parks, enliven open spaces, and celebrate recreation in our community! Throughout two rounds of outreach, we collected approximately 4,000 responses to help guide the development of the San Carlos Parks Master Plan. In fall 2024 (Round 1), we heard about recreation habits, amenity uses, and desired improvements. In spring 2025 (Round 2), we asked for more community feedback to clarify priorities and understand what’s really important for the future of recreation in San Carlos. In fall 2025, we presented potential options for a community center and aquatic facility at either Burton Park or Laureola Park and learned how the community feels about the future impact these two dynamic amenities would have on San Carlos.
